MODEL YACHTS HISTORY
Model yachts were historically intended for young lords to learn the basics of sailing. They became then one
of the favorite outdoor activity of city children between 1850 and 1950. Composed mainly of rental sailboats
and small mechanical toy boats, these majestic fleets sometimes included real pond giants.
The latter were exceptional toys intended more for adults than for children, real collectibles, technical
and aesthetic marvels, often made by passionate or professional craftsmen.
